Description
Tan My communal house belongs to residential group 3, Van Gia town, Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province (Formerly Tan My village, Phuoc Tuong Noi canton, Quang Phuoc district, Khanh Hoa province). Located 60 km north of Nha Trang city.
From the second half of the 17th century, some residents from Binh Dinh and Phu Yen followed the Nguyen lords to Khanh Hoa land. Some time later, they came to the riverside Cau Huyen to live. In the early days, right after clearing the forest for farming land and expanding the village, people built a small temple next to the ancient star tree to worship the predecessors who had publicly cleared and preserved the area. newly created land.
Five months passed, when the religious demand developed, on October 12, 1851 (Tan Hoi year) the temple was restored into a communal house and worshiped Ban Canh Thanh Hoang.
Experiencing a long period of sun and rain along with the destruction of the war, the communal house was degraded, the people in the village have repaired it many times in the following years:
- In 1964, the western house was renovated;
- In 1989, renovated the east house, main hall, ritual gate;
- In 1997, renovated the western house.
The relic contains many architectural and artistic values, showing the unique beauty of the communal house in Khanh Hoa, Tan My communal house is located on a land with beautiful and airy terrain, located under the canopy of the house. Hundreds of years old sop tree, it is the traditional cultural space of the Vietnamese people - the space of the village. This is an ancient religious work, although it has been restored many times, it still retains the ancient features and bold architectural style of the village communal house in Khanh Hoa area in the early Nguyen Dynasty.

The communal house faces the East, in a campus with a total area of 2,350m, divided into two parts: the part in front of the communal house is the place where the annual festival takes place; the inner part has architectural works, surrounded by fence walls.
The overall layout of the architectural works is spread out, including: Nghi Mon, Am Co Temple, Tho Cong Temple, East house, West house, front hall and main hall.
Tan My Communal House is a religious and belief work with great historical and cultural values, in addition to the typical patterns and architecture of the village communal house, there are documents, relics and antiquities such as: : drum stands, drums, gong racks, antique gongs, long communal houses, two sets of bowls, gold plaques engraved with those who take care of building the communal house, couplets... Not only that, intangible cultural values Typical objects in the worshiping ceremony are preserved in many forms and have been handed down from time immemorial.
Every year, on the auspicious day of the third lunar month, to commemorate the great merits and good traditions of the ancestors, the people in the village hold a communal house worship ceremony. In the poem Tien Hien sacrificed, praising the founding merits of four families: Nguyen, Huynh, Ho, and Dang.
During the two resistance wars against the French colonialists and the American imperialists (1945-1975), the relic was the place to organize revolutionary activities in the locality.
On August 14, 1945, at Tan My communal house, a large number of people, under the leadership of the Viet Minh Front, marched to the district to overthrow the French colonial rule and establish the Van Ninh district government.
During the resistance war against the US to save the country, in the spring of the Tet Offensive in 1968 at the Tan My communal house and the place where the tree was located, our Party secretly organized the masses armed with the liberation front flags, communal flags, drums, and gongs. … to march around the village and march to the district to fight and support the armed forces to fight the enemy.
Tan My communal house is an ancient architectural work, formed along with the process of land reclamation and village establishment of Tan My villagers. Right from the time it was built, the relic has become the center of cultural activities and beliefs of the villagers, closely associated with each person in Tan My. Because of the above values, the relic has been classified as a provincial historical - cultural relic by the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province issued Decision No. 3095/QD-CT.UBND dated December 5, 2013.
